Are you a registered childminder?
Yes. I have had an enhanced CRB checks, and Ofsted registration. I am inspected by Ofsted to ensure that I am helping your children to develop and learn through fun and informative ways. You may view my certificate and latest inspection reports at any time – just ask. I also have quarterly visits to inspect how I work within the standards set by Ofsted.
Is there a contract?
I use NCMA contracts, which are legal and binding.
How much do you charge?
Average costs are £3 per hour; Reductions are sometimes given for siblings. Drinks and snacks are included, but meals cost extra.
What do I need to supply?
If your child is wearing nappies, you must supply enough nappies for a days wear, including wipes. (All parents have a preferred brand – it’s easier this way!) Please send a spare set of clothes for each child in case of accidents. A blanket for daytime naps. Children can bring their favourite toys or comforters, but the childminder can accept no responsibility for loss or damage to any personal items. In the summer, sun cream and a hat are essential.
What if my child is ill?
Ofsted states that childminders cannot look after sick children. It is always advisable to phone first and check with the childminder.
I’m going on holiday soon, when should I let you know?
If you give me four weeks notice, I may be able to fill the space with a short-term contract. I will always give you a minimum of four weeks notice of any holiday that I book, and will wherever possible try and put you in contact with another local childminder. As a rule, I normally only have four weeks holiday a year, but I say to allow for five weeks in case of meetings I have to attend for ESSENTIAL training. (EG first aid.)
What if I’m running late at work, or stuck in traffic?
Don’t panic. Call me as soon as possible, I’m flexible – been there, and got the T-shirt!
What happens about school holidays?
They’re a normal working day to me!
How do I pay?
Cash in advance – weekly or monthly – it’s up to you. Bear in mind that unless otherwise agreed you have to pay for contracted hours unless by prior agreement. I give a small discount to families who pay direct to my bank IN ADVANCE. I am also happy to accept childcare vouchers from your employer.
I’m missing my child whilst I’m at work
Phone and speak to him or her? I’ll always have my mobile with me in case we are out.
